Berry Fertilizers - Buy from Manufacturer Dünger
A berry garden is one of the most rewarding investments: correctly fed bushes and beds produce for decades. But each crop has its own rules - blueberries need acidic soil, strawberries and raspberries cannot tolerate chloride, and all berries need elevated potassium during fruiting for sweetness and shelf life. DÜNGER granular fertilizers for berry crops - from blueberry to currant - suit all phases: spring, flowering, post-harvest. Delivery by Nova Poshta and Ukrposhta across Ukraine.
What All Berry Crops Have in Common for Fertilization
Despite their differences, all berry crops share common nutrient principles every gardener should know:
- Potassium (K) is the key element during fruiting. Elevated K during berry fill increases sugar content, firms fruit walls and extends shelf life in all berry species. SKU 19 (P23-K30) is a universal choice for this phase.
- Boron (B) is critical at flowering. Boron deficiency in any berry crop causes empty flowers, poor yields and deformed fruit. Foliar spray with boric acid 1 g/10 L at flowering is a mandatory practice for the entire berry garden.
- Excess nitrogen after fruiting begins is harmful. In all berry crops, excess N during fruit fill redirects plant energy to leaf growth instead of fruit formation. Berries shrink and lose flavor. After flowering starts - sharply reduce or eliminate N.
- Magnesium (Mg) and iron (Fe) keep foliage healthy. Berry bush leaf canopy is large and its photosynthesis determines berry size and sweetness. Interveinal chlorosis (yellow leaves with green veins) is an early sign of Mg or Fe deficiency at elevated pH.
Chloride sensitivity varies: blueberry and strawberry — very sensitive (KCl forbidden); currant and gooseberry — moderately sensitive (best to avoid KCl); raspberry — sensitive (chloride-free forms recommended).
Blueberry Fertilizers: Acidic Soil and Zero Chloride
Highbush blueberry is the most demanding berry crop for growing conditions. Its key requirements:
- Soil pH: strictly 4.5-5.5. Above 5.5 - chlorosis and growth stops.
- Nitrogen: ammonium form only (NH4+). Nitrate N is harmful.
- Chloride (Cl-): strictly forbidden in any form.
- Forbidden inputs: lime, wood ash, manure - all raise pH.
For P and K phases of blueberry, DÜNGER SKU 19 (P23-K30) works well - chloride-free granule with zero nitrogen. Autumn feeding: DÜNGER SKU 601 (N5-P14-K21-S6-Si0.3%) - minimal N, sulfur S6% maintains soil acidity.
Strawberry Fertilizers: Three Phases and Boron at Flowering
Garden strawberry needs three seasonal feeds:
- Spring (March-April): DÜNGER SKU 1 (N12-P15-K15-S15) - 20-30 g per 10 plants. Triggers leaf and crown growth.
- Flowering (May): Fertilizer with boron (SKU 18, N12-P15-K15-S15-B0.35%) - 15-20 g per 10 plants. Boron B0.35% is critical for fruit set. Additionally: calcium against grey rot.
- Post-harvest (July-August): SKU 601 (N5-P14-K21-S6-Si0.3%) - 15-20 g per 10 plants. Forms flower buds for next season.
Strawberry is very sensitive to chloride: KCl softens berries and reduces aroma. All recommended DÜNGER products are chloride-free.
Raspberry Fertilizers: The Iron Rule - No Nitrogen After July 1st
Raspberry is the most straightforward among berry bushes for feeding, but has one iron rule. Three feeds:
- Spring (April): SKU 1 (N12-P15-K15-S15) - 20-30 g/m. Nitrogen for new canes.
- Pre-flowering (May): SKU 19 (P23-K30) - 15-20 g/m. P and K for large sweet berries. Zero nitrogen - the plant builds yield, not leaves.
- Post-harvest (September): SKU 601 (N5-P14-K21-S6-Si0.3%) - 20-25 g/m. Hardens cane wood before winter.
The iron rule: never apply nitrogen after July 1st. Late N produces soft canes that freeze in winter and flavorless berries. SKU 19 and SKU 601 after July - acceptable.
Currant and Gooseberry Fertilizers: pH 6.0-7.0, Three Feeds
Blackcurrant, redcurrant, whitecurrant and gooseberry are the least demanding berry bushes. Optimal pH: 6.0-7.0 (wider range than blueberry or strawberry). Moderately sensitive to chloride - best to avoid KCl, though not as critical as with blueberries.
Three feeds for currant and gooseberry:
- Spring (April), at bud break: SKU 1 (N12-P15-K15-S15) - 30-40 g per mature bush. Boosts growth after winter. Blackcurrant especially needs spring N for new shoot formation.
- Pre-flowering to berry fill (May-June): SKU 19 (P23-K30) - 20-25 g per bush. K30 significantly increases sugar content in currant and gooseberry berries. Boron (boric acid 1 g/10 L foliar at flowering) increases berries per cluster.
- Post-harvest (August-September): SKU 601 (N5-P14-K21-S6-Si0.3%) - 20-25 g per bush. Sets next season's buds and strengthens root system for winter.
Blackcurrant responds especially well to magnesium: at leaf chlorosis (yellowing between veins), foliar magnesium sulfate 20 g/10 L rapidly restores green color.
Three DÜNGER Products for the Entire Berry Garden
Most berry garden needs are covered by three products:
- DÜNGER Universal (SKU 1) - N12-P15-K15-S15: spring start for all berry crops (except blueberry, which needs ammonium sulfate for N). 30-40 g per mature bush or 20-30 g/m² under bushes.
- DÜNGER Phosphorus-Potassium (SKU 19) - P23-K30: pre-flowering and during fruiting. Zero nitrogen, maximum P and K. 15-25 g per bush depending on crop and bush size.
- DÜNGER Autumn Complex (SKU 601) - N5-P14-K21-S6-Si0.3%: post-harvest for all berry bushes. Minimal N, maximum K. Sulfur maintains pH. Si hardens cane bark against disease and frost. 20-25 g per bush in August-September.
Universal rule: foliar spray with boric acid 1 g/10 L at flowering of all berry crops is mandatory for maximum yield and proper fruit set.
